Iowa travel conditions are not something one should take lightly. Severe winter weather makes it imperative to stay up to date on safety. You don’t have to guess how your trip will be, there is actually an easy way to check your route road for road.
This way you can decide whether or not to go along with your travel plans or postpone them. This article explains how to find Iowa travel information.

Instructions

  1. Step 1

    Visit IowaRoadConditions.org. This is the DOT website and updates several times per hour. Especially during winter road conditions or severe accidents, it is a terrific resource to find Iowa travel information safety information.

  2. Step 2

    Click on either Low Bandwidth or High Bandwidth. Depending on your internet connection, the Iowa travel website provides different graphics. If you have dial-up, you have low bandwidth. If you have highspeed, click high bandwidth.

  3. Step 3

    Select the Iowa travel area you wish to research in the drop down menu. If you want to see a general overview of the entire state, simply scroll down. If you want specifics, you’ll have to choose a geographical area.

  4. Step 4

    Run your mouse arrow over each road and highway you are interested in. A dialog box appears with Iowa travel updates and the time it was updated. There is a little icon by each road that also gives you a quick look at the conditions.
    The icon key is located above the map.

Tips & Warnings

There is a difference between snow covered roads and ice covered roads. While snow is still drivable, ice is much more dangerous and should be avoided at all costs.
