Microsoft Finally Appoints New Helmsman
After a blank of about three months after left Tony Chen, finally Microsoft Corporation announced the appointment of a new skipper will lead Microsoft’s business wheels in the country. Who is he?
The new skipper is Sutanto Hartono, who will officially begin his career at Microsoft in late January 2010.
Sutanto Hartono Indonesia joined Microsoft after leading broadcasting and television networks Rajawali Citra Televisi Indonesia (RCTI), where he was CEO since 2008 and Managing Director in 2003. At the same time, he also served as Director of Media Nusantara Citra.
Before a career in RCTI, Sutanto Hartono Sony Music Entertainment founded in Indonesia and became Senior Vice President of Southeast Asia. This is a change from the previous field they work as a Senior Associate, a financial services group for Booz Allen Hamilton, Southeast Asia.
“I am very happy to join and lead the Microsoft team of Indonesia and I’m really looking forward to a long-term growth in the market Microsoft Indonesia,” Sutanto said in a statement quoted the official, Thursday (17/12/2009).
“I am very excited about the opportunities offered by Indonesia, mainly because the size of our population in the use of technology. With his background in media and entertainment field, I’m hoping to bring a new perspective on Microsoft’s approach to the business community, government, education sector, including consumer markets of Indonesia, “added the man sitting on a Bachelor of Science, Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana and an MBA in Marketing and Finance from the University of California, Berkeley.
In connection with the appointment, President of Microsoft Asia Pacific, Emilio Umeoka said, “Sutanto Hartono has a brilliant reputation in the business to grow and develop teamwork capacity.”
Chief Operating Officer of Microsoft Indonesia, Faycal Bouchlaghem, will continue to do his duty to lead Microsoft’s business operations and Indonesia prepare a smooth transition for Sutanto in the next six months, before continuing the next task.
