Wireless Xbox 360 Network Adapter Work

    Plugging in to Get Unplugged

  1. Connecting the wireless Xbox 360 adapter to the back of the console in its specified location, and then connecting its USB cord, will quickly cause the adapter to install itself to the system. Since there is no built-in wireless adapter, Microsoft has created one with the Xbox 360 solely in mind.
While there are other brands of wireless adapters for the Xbox 360, most do not install themselves onto the unit and can be complicated.
  2. What it Does

  3. The Xbox 360 wireless adapter reads wireless signals from a wireless router. It reads 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g, which are the common types of wireless signal produced from consumer routers. The dual band adapter allows it to be backward compatible with older routers, but the connection may not be as strong.
  4. Cost

  5. Prices for Microsoft’s adapter can range from $80 to $100, while off brand adapters can be as low as $40. Off brand wireless adapters do, however, need to be installed, which can be complicated, as the Xbox 360 system will not read regular installation discs. Specific off brand wireless adapters must be used as a result of this.
  6. Setup

  7. After clipping the Microsoft Xbox 360 wireless adapter onto the back of the console and connecting the USB cable, it’s automatically installed. To activate the wireless Internet, select “System Settings” from the main menu.
Then select “Network Settings” and “Configure Network.” The first option that is presented is for wireless Internet. Choosing it will then scan for available wireless signals. Find and choose the appropriate wireless signal from the list, and Xbox Live will automatically connect.
