Do you hate checking your email and finding a million emails from Facebook? You can stop these email notifications from flooding your inbox!
Below are two easy ways to block those pesky Facebook notifications. [See Tips section for how to block Facebook notifications on your home page.]

Instructions

  1. Step 1

OPTION 1: Log in to your Facebook account. On your home page, put the cursor over “Settings” in the top right corner. A drop-down menu will appear. Click on “Account Settings.”

  2. Step 2

Click “Notifications.” A categorized list of all types of notifications will appear. Uncheck any unwanted notifications and click “Save Changes” at the bottom.

  3. Step 3

OPTION 2: Click on “Application Settings” instead of “Account Settings.”

  4. Step 4

Click on the drop-down menu on the top right next to “Show.” Choose “Authorized” to see all applications. Click “Edit Settings” of any application that you cannot delete (no X option).

  5. Step 5

Click “Additional Permissions” in the pop-up box. The bottom section will read, “Allow Facebook to notify me by email when someone:” followed by a list. Uncheck all of them and click “Okay.”

Tips & Warnings

  • To block facebook notifications on your home page: Click on the sign icon in the lower right corner and then “See All” in the pop-up box. On the right side of the page will be a list of all the notification types. Uncheck unwanted notifications.
On the top of the page, there will be a tan box saying, “Notifications from [application name] are now hidden” and the options to also mark the notifications as spam or to delete the application.
  • Option 2 does not include the option to stop email notifications for wall posts and friend requests. Only option 1 does.
